Yung Miami, the American rapper, has publicly accused South African singer Tyla of stealing the concept for an unreleased song titled “Take Me to Chanel.”

According to Miami, she had played this unreleased track for Tyla, only to later see Tyla announce her own upcoming single called “Chanel,” with a very similar theme and title.

Miami expressed frustration and called this a form of creative theft on social media, stating that Tyla “ran off with her song idea.”

She emphasized that despite not having released her own song yet, it still belonged to her, leading to heated discussions and divided opinions among fans online.

While Yung Miami was vocal about the issue, Tyla has not publicly responded to the accusations but is continuing to promote her song, which taps into amapiano and Afrobeats sounds, distinct from Miami’s American trap style.

Fans and commentators on social media are split with some agreeing with Miami’s claim, others suggesting it could be a coincidence given the common reference to the luxury brand Chanel in music, and some seeing the controversy as boosting excitement around the releases.

This incident highlights how intellectual property disputes can arise in the music industry, especially with artists from different continents intersecting in the global music scene, and how social media can amplify such conflicts quickly.
