The announcement was made on Tuesday at the Government House Banquet Hall in Osogbo, where the governor also confirmed he would seek re-election in 2026 under the party’s banner.

The event was attended by national and state leaders of the Accord Party.

In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke explained that his decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders and was motivated by the desire to consolidate his administration’s ongoing reforms.

“I joined the Accord Party more than a month ago, precisely on November 6, as a platform to seek re-election in 2026,” the governor said. “This was after weeks of consultation and deliberations with stakeholders and opinion leaders.”
