VeryDarkMan (VDM), a well-known social commentator and activist, recently shared pictures on social media of himself posing with his dream car, a 1995 Hummer pickup truck.
He expressed a heartfelt plea for his ancestors to come through for him to own the vehicle, capturing the attention of many followers.
This post sparked a response from Isaac Fayose, brother to former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, who called for public donations to help buy the car as a birthday gift for VDM.
Isaac Fayose personally pledged to donate ₦10 million towards the cause, emphasizing that VDM deserved such a gift for his contributions to society.
In reaction to this generous offer, VeryDarkMan expressed sincere gratitude but declined the idea of receiving the donated car.
He stated that if people did contribute funds to purchase the vehicle, he would sell the car and use the money raised for charitable purposes instead.
VDM reiterated his commitment to charity work and the Ratel Movement, an organization he is involved with. His response was heartfelt and appreciative but clear in prioritizing the welfare of others over personal gain.
The public reaction to this story was mixed. Supporters applauded Isaac Fayose’s willingness to help and expressed eagerness to contribute towards the gift for VDM.
However, some critics felt the ₦10 million could be better spent addressing more pressing community needs rather than buying a luxury vehicle. Others commended VDM’s stance to put the funds to charitable causes if contributions were made.
The story highlighted both the generosity within the Nigerian social media community and the ongoing debates about priorities when it comes to financial support and activism.
