VDM threatens EFCC with legal action, lays fresh accusation against GTBank
Nigerian activist and social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has strongly cautioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), threatening legal action if the agency brands him a money launderer following his recent detention.
In a video shared on Instagram, VDM detailed his arrest experience and voiced concerns about what he perceives as possible image manipulation by the anti-corruption body.
He said: “They took my picture, and I strongly believe they might write ‘money laundering’ on it if they release it publicly,” he said. “They can write anything else, but if they mention money laundering, I’m heading straight to court.”
The outspoken activist, who has built a large following through his often explosive commentaries on national issues, disclosed that the EFCC has yet to return his confiscated phone. This, he said, has left him unable to access key digital platforms, further frustrating his efforts to speak out. “I had to buy a new phone, but I couldn’t log into my iCloud. That phone has too much information. Even my WhatsApp isn’t working,” he lamented.

VDM didn’t stop at the EFCC. He also took aim at Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), accusing the financial institution of releasing a “fake video” concerning his case. “GTBank released a fake video of me,” he claimed, adding that the footage misrepresented facts surrounding his ordeal.
While details of the video remain unclear, VDM hinted that more revelations would be made public soon, promising a full exposé on his experience. “I’m still coming back to say more,” he teased, suggesting that his battle with the authorities is far from over.
In a climate where trust in institutions is often tested, VeryDarkMan’s bold stance and vow to fight back have positioned him as a figure of resilience and defiance.
