Two Bodies Recovered From Lagos Building Collapse

Two male bodies have been recovered from the rubble of a three-storey building that collapsed while under construction on Friday night in Yaba, a district of Lagos.

Ibitayo Adenike, Acting Head of the Lagos Operations Office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), confirmed the development during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday.

According to NAN, rescue teams have so far retrieved two deceased individuals and successfully rescued four others, who are currently receiving medical attention.

Adenike stated that the building, located at No. 333 Borno Street, Alagomeji, Yaba, gave way around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, trapping several people beneath the debris.

She emphasized that search and rescue efforts remain ongoing, and the exact number of individuals still trapped cannot be determined until the structure is fully cleared.

Emergency responders on site include the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Building Control Agency, and the Nigeria Police Force, among others.
