In a remarkable display of academic excellence, twin brothers Busoye Opegbemi Matthias and Busoye Tolulope Matthew from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Ibadan (UI) have achieved a historic feat.

Both brothers graduated at the top of their class with identical first-class degrees, boasting a CGPA of 3.94 out of 4.00.

Matthias shared this achievement in a post on X, highlighting their distinction as Overall Best Graduating Students for the 2023/2024 academic session in both their department and the Faculty of Technology.

Their academic journey was marked by consistent excellence, with Matthias serving as Honourable Speaker of the UI Students’ Representative Council (UISU-SRC, 11th Assembly) and Matthew as President of the Society of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Students (SEEEES-UI) for the same session.

Throughout their studies, the twins demonstrated remarkable consistency. At the 100 level, Matthias achieved a CGPA of 3.84, while Matthew recorded 3.89. By the 200 level, they had CGPAs of 3.92 and 3.94, respectively. In the 300 level, Matthias scored 3.95 and Matthew 3.93. At the 400 level, both achieved 3.94 and 3.93, and in their final year, they both concluded with a CGPA of 3.94.

The Society of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Students formally acknowledged their achievement with a congratulatory message, praising their academic prowess and leadership roles. This remarkable feat has earned the Busoye twins widespread recognition and admiration, solidifying their place in the annals of UI’s academic history.
