Tobi Amusan Withdraws from Diamond League Final in Zurich
World record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles, Tobi Amusan, has opted out of the final leg of this year’s Diamond League, currently underway in Zurich.
The prestigious season-ending event kicked off on Wednesday and concludes today (Thursday), featuring elite athletes competing across top disciplines for a $50,000 prize.
Amusan had secured her spot in the final as the second-ranked athlete in her category this season, having accumulated 27 points.
However, she has since withdrawn from the competition and will be replaced by Bahamian hurdler Devynne Charlton.
The final lineup now includes Charlton, reigning world champion Danielle Williams, fellow Jamaican Ackera Nugent, Nadine Visser of the Netherlands, Swiss athletes Ditaji Kambundji and Selina von Jackowski, along with American trio Tonea Marshall, Grace Stark, and Kendra Harrison.
Amusan still holds the meet record of 12.29 seconds, set in September 2022 when she clinched her second Diamond League title. The 28-year-old had previously won the title three years in a row, 2021, 2022, and 2023.
