TikTok Limits Nigerian LIVE Feature for Safety Review
TikTok has introduced a temporary nightly restriction on its live-streaming feature for users in Nigeria as part of a safety review.
The platform sent an in-app notification to Nigerian creators early Sunday, explaining that it was “temporarily limiting LIVE late at night in Nigeria as part of our investigation to ensure our platform remains safe and our community stays protected.”
The restriction, which took immediate effect, blocks access to TikTok LIVE between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Nigerian time.
Accounts affected during these hours display a “No Access” label, and Nigerian users are also unable to view live broadcasts from creators in other countries during the restricted period.
The move follows earlier live sessions that were active before the cutoff time, signaling a sudden but limited enforcement of the nightly blackout. TikTok has not specified how long the restriction will remain in place or the exact nature of the safety concerns prompting the measure.
