Three PDP Rep Members Join APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the House of Representatives suffered a setback on Wednesday as three of its members defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defectors, two from Osun State and one from Edo State, attributed their departure to ongoing leadership crises within the PDP. During plenary, Taofeek Ajilesoro (Ife Central/Ife East/Ife North) and Emmanuel Olusanya (Atakunmosa West/Atakunmosa East/Ilesha East) from Osun, along with Marcus Onobun (Esan Central/Esan West/Igueben) from Edo, formally announced their move to the APC.

Beyond concerns over party leadership, the lawmakers also cited the importance of working in synergy with President Bola Tinubu to better serve their constituents and facilitate democratic dividends.

The defectors, two from Osun and one from Edo State, cited what they called the internal strife in the leadership of the PDP.

The lawmakers who announced their defection during plenary are Taofeek Ajilesoro (Ife Central/Ife East/Ife North), Emmanuel Olusanya (Atakunmosa West/Atakunmosa East/Ilesha East), both from Osun State, and Marcus Onobun (Esan Central/Esan West/Igueben) from Edo State.

Apart from leadership crisis, the defectors also highlighted the need to align forces with President Bola Tinubu to deliver the dividends of democracy to their respective constituents.

Responding, the Speaker said, “Minority Leader, your point of order is noted.”
