Sergio Busquets has announced his retirement from professional football at the end of the 2025 Major League Soccer (MLS) season with Inter Miami.

The 37-year-old midfielder, renowned for his long and successful career at Barcelona, expressed gratitude and pride in his career spanning nearly 20 years.

Busquets is regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders of his generation, having won numerous titles including a World Cup, a European Championship, three Champions League trophies, and nine La Liga titles during his time at Barcelona.

After leaving Barcelona in 2023, he continued his career at Inter Miami alongside former teammates like Lionel Messi.

Busquets’s MLS season will conclude in December 2025, marking the end of his illustrious playing career.
