Pastor Adeboye Declares: “I’ll Dance, Eat Pounded Yam And Die After A Sunday Service”

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the 83-year-old General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), made a striking revelation during the evening session of Day 4 of the church’s 73rd Annual Convention, themed “The Overcomers.”

Speaking to millions of congregants at the Old Auditorium in Redemption City, located along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Adeboye calmly predicted how he believes he will die.

“It’s going to be on a Sunday,” he said.

“I would go to Church for service, dance very well and return home. I will eat pounded yam, then I will go.” He urged members not to question how he knew, emphasizing that death need not always follow illness.

Adeboye’s comments came during a prayer session focused on “Possessing Your Possession,” where he led the congregation in prayers for divine healing, prosperity, fruitfulness, long life, and victory over spiritual darkness.

He cited 2 Corinthians 8:9 to affirm that prosperity is a divine inheritance for believers and encouraged members to reject poverty as a tool used by the devil to hinder the gospel.

Born on March 2, 1942, in Ifewara, Osun State, Pastor Adeboye came from humble beginnings and rose to become one of the most influential Christian leaders in the world.

He joined RCCG in 1973, was ordained a pastor in 1975, and became General Overseer in 1981 following the passing of the church’s founder, Pa Josiah Akindayomi.

Under his leadership, RCCG has grown from a local congregation to a global movement with over 40,000 parishes in more than 190 countries.

Adeboye is also a former teacher of mathematics, a prolific author, and a philanthropist whose initiatives include educational institutions, hospitals, and social welfare programs.

He was named one of the 50 most powerful people in the world by Newsweek in 2008 and continues to mentor spiritual leaders across the globe.

Despite his global influence, Pastor Adeboye remains known for his humility and deep commitment to soul-winning.

His prediction of a peaceful transition reflects his lifelong message of faith, hope, and unwavering devotion to God.
