Okon Lagos, a popular Nigerian actor, has called for the arrest and prosecution of Sheikh Ahmad Gumi on terrorism-related grounds.

Despite these calls, no public police action has yet been taken against Gumi, who defends his negotiations as peace efforts and denies committing any crime.
