Nigerian Driver Drowns During Leisure Trip With Dangote Expatriates

What began as a cheerful outing at Tarkwa-Bay Beach in Lagos turned tragic for Kingsley as a Nigerian driver whose quiet dedication to his job ended in heartbreak.

On Sunday afternoon, he joined two Indian expatriates—employees of the Dangote Company in Lekki—on a visit to Tarkwa-Bay Beach in Lagos. It was meant to be a moment of leisure, far from the bustle of daily responsibilities.

At around 4:00 p.m., Kingsley decided to take a dip in the ocean. Witnesses say he entered the water with ease, but strong currents swept in, despite frantic efforts, he never resurfaced.

The expatriates reported the incident at Tarkwa-Bay Police Division, and as hours turned into uncertainty, Kingsley was declared missing and is now presumed dead.

Those who knew him speak of a man devoted to his work, reliable, respectful, and rarely in the spotlight.

“All efforts to recover his body have so far been unsuccessful,” a police source confirmed.

Officers from the division were sent to the beach shortly after the report was made. A search and recovery effort began, but as of the time of this report, his body had not been found.

Authorities say only the driver’s first name is known at this stage, and steps are being taken to gather more information about his identity.
