Nigerian among 12 fugitives extradited to US from 10 countries

A Nigerian, Ehis Lawrence Akhimie has been extradited to the United States of America for allegedly engaging in a transnational criminal organisation that operated an inheritance fraud scheme targeting elder US consumers.

In a statement, the US Department of Justice disclosed that Akhimie, 41, was extradited from the United Kingdom.

According to the March 28 statement, he was one of 12 fugitives extradited to the US this March from 10 countries for various offences.

The suspects identified as alleged murderers, a child rapist, an MS-13 leader, an alien smuggler, Colombian drug traffickers, a Russian cybercriminal, a Nigerian fraudster, and an immigration scammer were extradited from Colombia, the Dominican Republic, France, Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, the Kyrgyz Republic, Mexico, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

The extradited fugitives include Eswin Mejia, 28; Rigoberto Ramon Miranda-Orozco, 48; Moises Humberto Rivera Luna, 55; and Carlos Espino Farfan, 36.

Others are Jair Alberto Alvarez Valenzuela, 54, and Luis Carlos Diaz Martinez, 32; Louie Hernandez, 61; Juan Ramirez, 37; and Solomon Sincler Gheorghe, 20.

Also on the list are Rostislav Panev, 51; Marco Tulio Fernandez-Rodriguez, 24; Bikramjit Ahluwalia, 39; and Danhong “Jean” Chen, also known as Maria Sofia Taylor, 60.
