Nelson Akerele replaces Funmilayo Omo as Enterprise Life Nigeria MD

Enterprise Life Assurance Nigeria (ELAN), a leading provider of innovative life insurance solutions, has announced a leadership change as its Managing Director, Mrs. Funmilayo Omo, steps down after five years of transformational service. The company’s board has also confirmed the appointment of Mr  Nelson Akerele as the new Managing Director.

Mrs Omo who joined the company in 2020 has led it through a defining period of growth, establishing the company as a digitally-driven, customer-focused insurer with a strong national footprint. Her leadership saw the introduction of innovative life planning solutions tailored to meet the needs of Nigeria’s underserved markets, as well as a significant push toward digital accessibility and customer empowerment.

Mr Akerele brings over two decades of experience in financial services, with a reputation for driving strategic growth, business development, and operational excellence. His appointment marks a new chapter for Enterprise Life Nigeria, as the company continues to deepen access to life insurance and expand its digital presence in the market.

The leadership change was formally marked at the company’s head office in Lagos, with key Enterprise Group executives, Board members, and staff in attendance. The event featured a ceremonial handover and send-off party, highlighting the vision and continuity of the company’s values and strategic direction.
