Names of 25 Schoolgirls Abducted in Kebbi Attack Released

The Chairman of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area in Kebbi State, Hussaini Aliyu, has published the official list of the 25 students abducted by bandits from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga.

The attack, which occurred on Monday morning, also resulted in the tragic death of the school’s Vice-Principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, and left a security guard injured.

Details the names of the missing girls, organized by their class levels, a solemn record that underscores the human toll of the incident.

A Coordinated Security Response

In response to the crisis, a major security operation is underway. Bello Sani, the Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, confirmed that additional police tactical units have been deployed. They are working in coordination with military personnel and local vigilante groups, combing suspected escape routes and surrounding forests in a determined search-and-rescue operation.

This effort has been prioritized at the highest levels of military command. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has directed troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA to intensify day and night operations, leaving “no stone unturned” until all the students are safely rescued.

The situation has also drawn the attention of the Presidency, with President Bola Tinubu requesting direct updates from Vice-President Kashim Shettima, who visited Kebbi on his behalf as well as from the police and the Department of State Services (DSS).
