Lionel Messi is set to virtually unveil a 21-metre statue of himself in Kolkata, India, kicking off his three-day GOAT India Tour from December 13 to 15, 2025.
The tour spans Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and New Delhi, with Messi joining virtually in Kolkata for security reasons before in-person events elsewhere, possibly including a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The statue at Sreebhumi Sporting Club shows Messi with the World Cup trophy, built by sculptor Monty Paul in 40 days—his tallest work yet—drawing fan hype, memes, and a “Hola Messi” zone with replicas.
Messi will meet Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan and ex-cricketer Sourav Ganguly in Kolkata, echoing his India visit 14 years ago to inspire young football talent.
