Actress and producer Mary Remmy Njoku has condemned the clout-chasing culture on Nigerian social media, expressing deep concern about how painful realities such as deaths, street fights, and even the tears of a child are being treated as mere content for views and virality.

She warned that when victims are turned into content, they cease to be seen as human beings and are instead exploited for clout.

Njoku emphasized that while social media has the power to unite, amplify justice, and inspire change, in Nigeria it is increasingly consumed by clout-seeking behavior, where suffering is broadcast as entertainment.

She expressed her dismay at this loss of humanity, sometimes choosing to log off social media to focus on real-life problems.

Njoku called for reflection, urging Nigerians to pause before posting to consider if they are amplifying humanity or stripping it away, questioning, “What exactly are we turning into?” She concluded that despite everything, Nigerians are still human and should be treated as such .
