The Lagos APC has described former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s criticism of President Bola Tinubu as “disgracefully hypocritical.”
In Obasanjo’s book “Nigeria: Past and Future,” he alleged that Tinubu’s administration is competing with the Buhari administration in incompetence.
The Lagos APC spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, responded by saying Obasanjo lacks the moral right to criticize any government, highlighting Obasanjo’s own record marked by political arrogance, squandered opportunities, and corruption during his tenure.
Oladejo pointed out that under Obasanjo, billions were spent on the power sector without results, the economy was left with more foreign debt despite claims to the contrary, and corruption thrived.
In contrast, Tinubu has taken bold reform steps such as removing fuel subsidies, overhauling the foreign exchange system, and tackling inefficiencies that no previous leader dared to address.
The Lagos APC accused Obasanjo of bitterness and resentment for losing relevance and urged him to show decorum by offering constructive advice rather than attacks.
They emphasized that Tinubu is focused on future reforms and that Obasanjo’s criticisms will not derail Nigeria’s path to recovery and renewal .
