Nigerian dancer and choreographer Kaffy recently opened up about the challenges she faces as a single mother of two in the context of dating and marriage.
Kaffy shared that many men are hesitant to marry her because she has children from a previous marriage. She questioned the stigma around divorced women, highlighting that over 70% of marriages globally end in divorce, yet society still tends to favor “fresh” unmarried partners over those who have been through a divorce and worked on themselves.
Kaffy emphasized that true love should bring peace and not anxiety or trauma responses, and she expressed how her experiences over the last decade, including being a responsible single mother, shape her perspective on relationships. She also addressed critics who look down on her status as a single mother.
In addition, Kaffy recounted an incident where a man shared that she insisted on being addressed as “Dr. Kaffy” during a professional project, pointing to her confidence and boundaries. Despite her status and challenges, Kaffy remains positive and focused on healing and raising her children well.
