Just In: Atiku, Top PDP Leaders Convene In Abuja On Coalition Ahead Of 2027

A high-level, closed-door meeting involving top chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) — including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President David Mark, and former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido — convened in Abuja to chart the party’s course regarding a potential coalition to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

Held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, the strategic gathering marks a pivotal moment in the opposition party’s internal deliberations.

Sources confirmed that the session, chaired by David Mark, was specifically aimed at reaching a consensus on whether the PDP should fully integrate into the emerging coalition platform or opt for an electoral alliance while maintaining its independent identity.

Also in attendance were PDP heavyweights such as former National Chairman Prince Uche Secondus, and ex-Governors Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), and Sam Egwu (Ebonyi), underscoring the meeting’s weight and urgency in shaping PDP’s strategic alignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Reports have revealed that the coalition has chosen the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform and has selected Senator Mark to serve as interim chairman, with an official unveiling scheduled for Wednesday.
