ISWAP Abducts 13 Female Teenagers in Borno

The Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) has abducted a group of female teenagers in the Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, according to a confirmation by the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Askira.

The lawmaker, who represents the constituency, stated that 13 young women, aged between 15 and 20, were taken while harvesting crops on their farmland in the Mussa district. The victims were among residents of Huyim community who had been relocated by the government to Mussa due to security concerns, in an effort to create a safer environment for communal farming.

In a positive development, one of the abductees managed to escape and was reunited with her family on Sunday morning. However, the whereabouts of the remaining 12 victims remain unknown.

Reacting to the incident, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South, has called on security agencies to intensify efforts to ensure the safe rescue of the teenagers. He also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and provide timely information to authorities on any suspicious terrorist movements in the area.
