INEC Endorses David Mark-Led ADC, Energises Opposition Ahead of 2027
In a move that could reshape Nigeria’s political terrain, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday officially recognised the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) under former Senate President David Mark.
The decision marks a turning point for the party, following months of internal restructuring and leadership uncertainty.
The newly ratified leadership team includes prominent figures such as Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Mani as National Treasurer, Akibu Dalhatu as National Financial Secretary, and Professor Oserheimen Aigberaodion Osunbor as National Legal Adviser.
This formal endorsement by INEC is being hailed as a strategic boost for the opposition, injecting fresh energy into the ADC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
With a unified leadership now in place, the party is set to launch a nationwide reconciliation and mobilisation campaign aimed at expanding its grassroots reach and consolidating its political relevance.
Political analysts suggest that the emergence of seasoned figures at the helm of the ADC could galvanize broader opposition efforts, offering Nigerians a more robust alternative voice in the democratic process.
As the countdown to 2027 begins, the ADC’s renewed structure may well serve as a rallying point for reform-minded voters and coalition-building across party lines.
