Ibas defies court order, appoints administrator for Rivers LGAs
Against the order of the court, the sole administrator of Rivers, Ibok-Ete Ibas, has approved the appointment of administrators for the 23 local government areas of the state.
The development comes less than 24 hours after a federal high court in Port Harcourt restrained him from appointing administrators for the councils.
In a statement, Ibibia Worika, secretary to the state government (SSG), said the appointments take effect from April 7.
Worika added that Ibas has also approved the reconstitution of some boards of agencies, commissions, and parastatals earlier suspended.
The newly appointed LGA officials are Okroiyobi Animiete, Goodluck Iheanacho, Promise Jacob, Tamunotonye Peters, Ibiapuve Charles, Kingsley N. Banigo, Sokari Ibifuro Francis, Gloria Obo-Dibiah, Franklin Ajinwon, among others.
