History of Indigbo: First Igbo Book Of Records unveiled in Enugu
It was a proud moment for the Igbo people of Nigeria, as the first-ever ‘Igbo Book of Records’ a compendium celebrating the heritage and achievements of Ndi Igbo, was unveiled in the Enugu State capital city.
Compiled by the Hall of Igbo Achievers Foundation, the Book chronicles the lives and accomplishments of outstanding Igbo sons and daughters, and the rich cultural heritage that has shaped the region.
This is not just the launch of a book, it is the unveiling of a legacy.
A compendium of well-researched records, traditions, historic events, and cultural truths of the Igbo people, presented in one definitive publication.
At a time when misinformation and political distortion threaten cultural identity.
Speakers at the event described the book as a timely intervention, one that tells the Igbo story by the Igbo people.
For Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State, the Book represents a much-needed archive of Igbo excellence.
The Igbo Book of Records is the brainchild of three seasoned journalists of Igbo origin, who are also the founders of the Hall of Igbo Achievers Foundation.
Though initially a collaborative effort, the Book was completed by two of the founders, who shared their motivations behind this project.
Beyond being an annual publication, the Foundation has plans to expand the project further, with a vision to build a Hall of Fame — a one-stop resource center where information and materials about Ndi Igbo will be preserved and made accessible to anyone seeking authentic information on Igbo history and culture.
