Hilda Baci Set To Cook 250 Bags Of Rice in Record-Breaking Jollof Challenge
Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has announced her ambitious plan to cook what could become the largest pot of jollof rice ever made, using a staggering 250 bags of rice.
Baci, who earned global recognition in 2023 for completing the longest cooking marathon, shared insights into the massive culinary undertaking in a video posted to Instagram on Monday.
She broke down the logistics of the project, which has sparked widespread interest.
The custom-built pot for the event boasts a volume of 22,619 litres, and Baci aims to fill it to at least 75 to 80 percent capacity.
“My goal is to fill this pot up by at least 75 to 80 per cent,” she explained.
“That means I will need about 5,278 kilogrammes of raw basmati rice to achieve the yield.”
Although the math suggests she would need 264 bags of rice, Baci revealed she’s made a calculated decision to scale slightly down: “I am making the executive decision to do 250 bags,” she stated.
As for ingredients, she noted that the dish will require 1,583 kilogrammes of tomato paste, based on her ratio of 0.30 kg of paste per kg of rice, tailored specifically for the rich flavor of Nigerian jollof.
“That means I will need 1,583 kilogrammes of Gino tomato paste,” she added.
To perfect the taste, Baci said the tomato base will be evenly distributed among tomato paste, pepper chicken paste, and jollof paste, promising a dish that will be both record-breaking and irresistibly delicious.
