Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has officially launched her record-breaking attempt to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice, using about 250 bags of rice.

The event took place at Eko Hotels in Lagos, drawing a large crowd of over 20,000 registered attendees. Before starting the cook, Hilda and her mother prayed together for strength, protection, and endurance throughout the challenging process, a touching moment appreciated by fans and onlookers.

Hilda’s previous world record for the longest cooking marathon brought her international recognition, and this new attempt aims to establish her as the Guinness World Record holder for the largest pot of jollof rice ever cooked.

The massive pot measures six meters wide and tall, capable of serving thousands.

The event also features cultural showcases, live entertainment, and food exhibitions, celebrating jollof rice as a symbol of Nigerian identity and community spirit.

Hilda personally prepared the pot, emphasizing hygiene and care, and her mother’s prayers underscore the strong familial support behind her journey.

The venue was shifted to Eko Hotel to accommodate the overwhelming enthusiasm and make the occasion more prestigious.

The event is also seen as a cultural and culinary celebration beyond just the Guinness record attempt.
