FAAN alledges Kwam 1 Of Spilling Alcohol On Airline Staff
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has accused Fuji music icon King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, of spilling alcohol on an airline staff member during a disruption at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The incident occurred on Monday, August 5, during boarding for ValueJet flight VK 201 to Lagos. According to FAAN, the altercation began when the musician attempted to carry an unidentified liquid—later confirmed to be alcohol—through security, violating aviation safety protocols.
Mrs. Obiageli Orah, FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, stated that Kwam 1 was repeatedly warned in accordance with international aviation regulations, which prohibit liquids over 100ml at security checkpoints unless declared and medically necessary.
“Despite repeated warnings, the passenger refused to comply and eventually spilled the alcohol on a security officer,” FAAN reported.
The situation escalated when the passenger resisted further instructions and moved to the front of the aircraft, refusing to leave until Aviation Security (AVSEC) officers intervened. He was later released following a preliminary investigation.
In a related development, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) announced it is reviewing the matter and has suspended the flight’s pilot and co-pilot for failing to follow pre-departure clearance procedures, citing a serious breach of aviation safety.
FAAN emphasized that aviation safety standards apply to all passengers, regardless of status, and assured the public that anyone found culpable will face appropriate consequences under the law.
