
Ex-OOU Vice Chancellor, Prof Wale Are Olaitan for burial April 4
The remains of former Vice Chancellor, Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago Iwoye, Prof. Wale Are Olaitan, will be committed to mother earth on Friday, April 4, 2025.
A statement by the family said he will be laid to rest at a private internment in his home town, Ijebu Igbo.
According to the statement, the internment will immediately follow a funeral service to be held in his honour at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 79, Adeboye Road, Besides Ansarudeen Central Mosque, Oke Sopen, Ijebu Igbo, at 11 am.
Prof. Olaitan, a renowned expert in Political Theory and State-Society Relations, who served in various capacities in OOU, including Head of the Political Science Department, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and ultimately, as the first alumnus to become Vice-Chancellor, died on Monday, March 24 at the age of 60 years.
The statement expressed appreciation to colleagues, associates, friends and sympathisers nationwide and outside the country for the outpouring of emotions which greeted his death.
