Former Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe is suing the club for over £1 million, alleging clinical negligence in the management of a spinal injury.

The lawsuit, filed at London’s High Court, claims that Manchester United failed to properly manage stress fractures in his spine starting from January 2020.

Tuanzebe asserts that the club did not refer him to a specialist spinal surgeon and prematurely returned him to play, which worsened his condition and impeded his ability to perform at the elite level.

The injury mismanagement reportedly caused prolonged pain and career setbacks, leading Tuanzebe to seek compensation for lost earnings.

Tuanzebe, now 27 and playing for Burnley, was once a highly touted academy talent for Manchester United but had his progress hindered by injuries.

The legal case will determine whether Manchester United is liable for the alleged negligence during his time at the club.
