
Elephants On Rampage In Ogun, Kill Farmer
A herd of elephants, believed to have escaped from an Ogun State Government Forest Reserve, reportedly killed a local farmer, Musa Kalamu, in the Onitasin Imobi area of Ijebu East Local Government.
The incident was confirmed to journalists by the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, alongside the Commissioner for Forestry, Mr. Taiwo Oludotun.
According to Ogunlowo, the report was received at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Monday by the Divisional Police Officer in Ogbere.
He said, “The DPO Ogbere received information from Itasin community on 28/07/2025 at about 1620hrs that elephants escaped from government reserve and attacked one Musa Kalamu who died on the way to the hospital.
“Officers of Ogun State Forestry were contacted to curtail the animals from further damage. Calm has returned to the community”.
The Commissioner for Forestry said the Ministry officials are aware of the incident and already on their way to the community.
The lifeless body of the victim of the wandering elephants attack was seen in a video that has since gone viral.
Sobbing locals in the video identified the late farmer as Kala, and appealed to the state government to save their lives from further attacks.
