The Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has rewarded D’Tigress basketball star Blessing Ejiofor with ₦30 million in cash and a duplex located at Tlan Estate in Abakaliki.
This generous reward comes in recognition of her significant contribution to Nigeria’s women’s national basketball team, which won the 2025 AfroBasket tournament.
In addition to the cash and property gifts, Governor Nwifuru also approved a ₦50 million project for the construction of a standard basketball court in Ebonyi State.
This project aims to improve basketball facilities for both male and female players in the state, following Ejiofor’s request for better sports infrastructure.
The governor described Ejiofor as a great ambassador for Ebonyi State, expressing pride in her achievement and highlighting the importance of her representation on the global sporting stage.
He also praised her determination and inspiring journey to the national team and pledged continued government support for sports development in Ebonyi.
