
Doyin Okupe succumbs to cancer at 72
Former Presidential Spokesperson, Dr Doyin Okupe is dead. He was aged 72 years.
His passing marks the end of a long and courageous battle with cancer, a struggle that spanned over 16 years.
Sources close to the family revealed that he had been critically ill in the weeks leading to his death, with his health deteriorating significantly.
In October 2023, it was reported that Dr. Okupe was hospitalised due to prostate cancer and was subsequently flown to Israel for treatment. He retuned still looking frail. His health deteriorated again in January and was due for another surgery tomorrow.
Apart from fighting cancer for over 16 years, he was said to have also developed sarcoma in his right shoulder, further complicating his health challenges.
He was a senior adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan and, recently, the Director-General of Peter Obi’s 2023 Presidential Campaign.

He dumped Labour Party (LP) to become one of the supporters of President Bola Tinubu.
