Deeone, a controversial comedian and former Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) housemate, recently gave an explosive interview where he called his participation in the show a mistake.
According to him, BBNaija did little to advance his career, contrary to popular belief that the show guarantees lasting fame and financial success.
He mentioned that many ex-housemates are now facing financial struggles, some even struggling to meet basic needs, as the initial buzz quickly fades after the show.
In the interview, Deeone also took shots at several celebrities and fellow ex-housemates:
• He labeled Davido as a “content creator” rather than a true musician and said he cannot be compared to Wizkid, whom he called Davido’s “boss and mentor.”
• He dismissed Whitemoney’s musical talents, saying his only real skill lies in cooking jollof rice, and claimed to have encouraged Whitemoney to be more outspoken online.
• He accused Kiddwaya of living a false lifestyle by exaggerating his wealth.
• Regarding Phyna, Deeone controversially said that the only “deal” they could have would be romantic, bluntly referring to it in transactional terms.
Despite his criticisms, Deeone stated that he maintains strong popularity among Nigerian youths who appreciate his comedic work.
His remarks have sparked considerable controversy and a mix of reactions from the public, with some criticizing him for his harsh comments and others engaging in the online discourse his interview generated.
