The 2025 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) nominations list is led prominently by Nigerian music stars Davido, Burna Boy, and Shallipopi.

Davido and Burna Boy each received five nominations, the highest number on the list, competing head-to-head in major categories such as Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Male Artiste in West Africa, and Artiste of the Year.

Burna Boy’s album “No Sign of Weakness” and Davido’s “5ive” are both nominated for Album of the Year, while their hit singles are nominated for Song of the Year and Best Collaboration.

Shallipopi, a rising street-pop sensation from Nigeria, earned four nominations, including Artiste of the Year and Song of the Year for his breakout track “Laho.” Other notable Nigerian nominees include Asake, Rema, Ayra Starr, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, and more, showcasing Nigeria’s dominant presence in the AFRIMA 2025 nominations.

South African DJ Maphorisa and Moroccan rapper El Grande Toto also received five nominations each, indicating strong competition across the continent.

The awards ceremony will take place in Lagos, Nigeria, from November 25 to 30, 2025, with public voting opening on September 10, 2025, and closing on November 30, 2025.

This year’s edition of AFRIMA received a record 10,717 entries, the highest in the 12-year history of the awards, reflecting AFRIMA’s growing global influence on African music.
