Dangote Refinery Slashes Petrol Prices, Begins Free Distribution Nationwide

Beginning from Monday, September 15, 2025, Dangote Refinery will implement a nationwide reduction in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), marking the official launch of its direct-to-consumer fuel distribution initiative.

The refinery, Africa’s largest with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, confirmed that petrol will be delivered directly to filling stations in select states using its fleet of 4,000 compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks, with zero logistics cost to retailers.

Under the new pricing structure: Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, and Ekiti will retail petrol at ₦841 per litre, down from ₦860. Abuja, Delta, Rivers, Edo, and Kwara will see prices drop to ₦851 per litre, from ₦885.

The refinery’s gantry price remains at ₦820 per litre, unchanged from last month.

This strategic rollout is expected to ease distribution bottlenecks, reduce fuel costs, and provide relief to millions of Nigerians grappling with high energy expenses.

The initiative also aligns with Dangote Group’s broader goal of revitalizing Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector and supporting over 42 million micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through lower energy costs.

While the price template applies to MRS and designated distribution partners, independent marketers are not bound by it.

The announcement comes amid ongoing tensions between Dangote Group and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), which has threatened to resume industrial action over alleged breaches of prior agreements.

Despite the dispute, Dangote Group maintains its commitment to respecting workers’ rights and union freedoms, emphasizing that the new supply framework is designed to benefit both consumers and the broader economy.
