
Court Sentences Suspected Killer Of Salome Adaidu To Death By Hanging
The High Court in Lafia, Nasarawa State, has sentenced Oluwatimileyin Ajayi, the suspected killer of a National Youth Service Corps member, Salome Adaidu, to death by hanging.
Justice Simon Aboki, who handed down the judgment on Thursday found Ajayi guilty of killing and dismembering Adaidu.
He had been charged with one count of culpable homicide contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria and punishable by death.
Speaking to journalists after the verdict, the state Attorney General, Dr. Labaran Shuaibu Magaji, hailed the ruling as a victory for justice and a warning to those contemplating similar crimes.
“This judgment underscores the judiciary’s dedication to upholding justice and deterring criminal behavior,” Dr. Magaji stated.
The Attorney General emphasized that the severity of the crime warranted the harsh sentence, affirming the government’s resolve to address criminal activities in the state.
