BREAKING: Court Convicts Nnamdi Kanu on Terrorism Charges

A Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on terrorism charges.

Justice James Omotosho delivered the verdict on Thursday, finding Kanu guilty on the first of seven counts. The judge ruled that the prosecution successfully proved its case, citing as evidence video interviews in which Kanu issued violent threats that, according to the court, “created fear and anxiety in the minds of members of the public in the Southeast.”

Justice Omotosho also noted that Kanu “failed and deliberately refused to give any exculpatory evidence” after choosing not to open his defence. The court is continuing to deliver its judgment on the remaining counts.
