Beyoncé’s Unreleased Music Stolen In US Ahead Of Live Show
A recent theft in Atlanta, United States has spotlighted the growing vulnerabilities artists face in the digital age. Hard drives containing unreleased music, exclusive footage, and confidential production materials belonging to global music icon Beyoncé were stolen from a vehicle rented by her choreographer, Christopher Grant, during a stop on the Cowboy Carter tour.
The incident, which occurred on July 8, few days before Beyoncé’s scheduled performances in Atlanta, led to the loss of critical creative assets, including detailed set lists, private recordings, and proprietary show content.
Grant reported that the vehicle’s rear window had been smashed and all his belongings were missing, including Apple MacBooks, luxury clothing, and, most alarmingly, hard drives filled with sensitive material.
This incident underscores the significant financial and creative toll theft and piracy continue to impose on the music industry.
Beyond the personal invasion, it poses risks of unauthorized leaks, copyright breaches, and disruption to carefully timed project releases, challenges that threaten artists’ intellectual property, revenue streams, and artistic control.
“The drives contained watermarked music, some unreleased music, footage plans for the show, and past and future set lists,” Grant said in the police report.
Atlanta police confirmed that a suspect has been identified and a warrant issued, but the individual remains at large.
Beyoncé is currently headlining the Cowboy Carter Tour, named after her 2025 Grammy-winning album.
The tour began on April 28 and is scheduled to conclude on July 26.
