Bandits Abduct Pregnant Woman, Children in Fresh Kwara Attack
In a devastating blow to a community still recovering from a previous trauma, at least 11 residents of Isapa in Kwara State’s Ekiti Local Government Area were abducted by bandits on Monday evening.
The attack occurred just one day after 38 worshippers, who had been kidnapped from a church in the nearby Eruku community, were finally released.
According to sources, the latest assault was carried out by a large group of 20 to 30 armed men who stormed the community around 6:00 p.m., firing sporadically and forcing residents to flee in panic. An elderly woman was reportedly struck by a stray bullet during the chaos.
A community leader, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that eleven people were taken, seven of whom were from a single household.
The victims include vulnerable individuals such as a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers, and several young children.
Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen moved freely through parts of the town, leaving bullet-riddled walls and doors in their wake before retreating with their captives.
The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, confirmed the incident and stated he was en route to Isapa to assess the situation, promising further updates.
This fresh kidnapping has sent shockwaves through the region, exacerbating fears and highlighting the severe security crisis gripping Nigeria, which has already led to the mass closure of schools, particularly in the northern part of the country.
