Bandit Kingpin Kallamu, Turji’s Ally, Killed By Soldiers
In a significant security breakthrough, troops from the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army in Sokoto have eliminated notorious bandit kingpin Kachalla Kallamu during a major offensive in Sabon Birnin Local Government Area.
A military source disclosed the operation to newsmen on Wednesday, confirming that Kallamu—a senior lieutenant and close associate of infamous bandit leader Bello Turji—was killed alongside one of Turji’s key logistics suppliers in the early hours of Monday around Kurawa village.
The operation, conducted in collaboration with local vigilantes, targeted Kallamu shortly after he had returned to the area. He was believed to have fled to Kogi State in June 2025 to evade a previous military offensive.
Kallamu, who hailed from Garin-Idi in Sabon Birni LGA, was known for orchestrating attacks that caused significant distress to communities across Sokoto State.
The source commended the strong intelligence collaboration between the military and local residents, which contributed to the operation’s success. The news has been widely celebrated by citizens and officials, including the Special Adviser to Governor Ahmad Aliyu on Security Matters, retired Col. Ahmad Usman.
