Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has secured a N20 million court victory in a defamation suit against Polance Media Limited, a Nigerian news platform that falsely alleged she had a romantic affair with former senator Dino Melaye.
The lawsuit, which began nearly two years ago, was based on an invasion of privacy and defamation, with the media outlet accusing her of dating the politician among “six popular Nigerian celebrities.”
The Lagos High Court ruled in her favor, awarding the damages and ordering the publication to delete and expunge her name and picture from the offending article.
Adunni Ade celebrated the judgment on social media, affirming that truth and integrity prevailed and vowed to pursue further legal actions against false reporting parties.
She also hinted at exposing a colleague who allegedly leaked her private information to bloggers.
