Adeleke Secures Accord Party Governorship Ticket
The Accord Party has cleared Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke as its sole gubernatorial aspirant, paving the way for him to officially secure the party’s ticket for the 2026 election.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, less than a day after Adeleke formally joined the party alongside his deputy, Kola Adewusi, and other key aides. The governor had left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing internal crises as his reason for resigning.
In a statement by Elder Ibe Thankgod, Chairman of the Accord Party Screening Committee, the party confirmed that Adeleke had been screened and met all necessary requirements. He was subsequently issued a certificate of clearance.
The statement described the governor as a “worthy gubernatorial aspirant” and confirmed that all required documentation with relevant electoral bodies had been completed.
Responding to the clearance, Governor Adeleke thanked the screening committee and party leadership, declaring his readiness to lead the party to victory.
“I am ready for the primary and I am ready for the general elections. We are winning by God’s grace,” the governor said.
