VDM (VeryDarkMan) has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to mandate education in Northern Nigeria as a critical strategy to combat terrorism.
He emphasized that the lack of adequate education is a root cause that allows terrorism to thrive in that region, highlighting the urgent need for intervention through education to reduce insecurity and terrorist activities.
VDM’s advocacy aligns with broader concerns about the persistent closure of schools due to insecurity in Northern Nigeria, where terrorism and banditry have led to mass abductions of schoolchildren and teachers, severely affecting education access.
Various reports show that thousands of schools remain shut, and children are deprived of education, driving some into early employment to support their families, which exacerbates the cycle of poverty and insecurity.
Amnesty International and other bodies have also urged the Nigerian government to prioritize securing schools, reopening closed institutions, and ensuring children’s safe return to classrooms in the region.
These calls stress education as essential for social stability and growth, aiming to prevent the exploitation of youth by terrorist groups.
VDM’s public statements, including protests and engagements demanding government action on teachers’ strikes and school safety, underscore his dedication to bridging the gap between education and security in Nigeria, particularly in the northern states where terrorism is most rampant.
