Osun Governor Adeleke Resigns from PDP

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing unending leadership crises at the national level as his reason for leaving.

In a statement posted to his Instagram account on Monday night, Adeleke confirmed that he submitted his resignation letter to party officials in his home ward of Sagba Abogunde, Ede North Local Government, on November 4, 2025.

“I have officially resigned my membership of the PDP,” the statement read, attributing the decision to “the ongoing crisis within the party’s national leadership.” He expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunities that elevated him to the Senate and later to the governorship of Osun State.

His departure follows earlier signals from the Osun PDP chapter that Adeleke was unlikely to seek the party’s ticket for the 2026 governorship election unless the internal conflicts were resolved.

The state party leadership had held out hope that a resolution, formally recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), might persuade him to reconsider.
