Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, has denied that his late son Mohbad was ever married to Wunmi Adebanjo, the mother of Mohbad’s son Liam.
He has demanded a DNA test to confirm the child’s paternity amid claims of infidelity against Wunmi and disputes over the family name and estate.
The Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court ordered a DNA test to be carried out in two different hospitals to ensure accuracy and transparency. Wunmi, who is recognized as Mohbad’s partner and Liam’s mother, did not oppose the DNA test order.
However, the family has instructed her to stop using the Aloba surname until the paternity is legally confirmed. There is no record of a traditional marriage between Mohbad and Wunmi, as the customary rites including bride price payment were never completed.
The family has appointed administrators to manage Mohbad’s estate and left an open slot for Wunmi only if the DNA test confirms Liam’s paternity.
This legal and family dispute is ongoing as they seek clarity on both the paternity and the management of Mohbad’s estate.
