Nigerian rapper and activist Falz (Folarin Falana) has publicly called for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resign, saying the president has failed to protect Nigerians from worsening insecurity.
What Falz Said
Falz urged Tinubu to “resign now,” accusing him of being unwilling or unable to safeguard lives and property amid escalating kidnappings, killings, and attacks in different parts of the country.
He argued that the government has “failed woefully” on security and therefore has lost the moral right to remain in office.
Why He Called For Resignation
Falz tied his demand to recent high‑profile incidents, including reports of mass abductions in Niger State and an attack on a church in Kwara, which he cited as evidence that citizens are no longer safe.
He said these events show a pattern of government incapacity to respond decisively to insecurity nationwide.
Reference To Tinubu’s Past Comments
Falz also reposted an old 2014 tweet where Tinubu, then in opposition, had called on former President Goodluck Jonathan to resign over insecurity, accusing Tinubu of hypocrisy for not meeting the same standard now that he is in power.
By quoting Tinubu’s own words back at him, Falz argued that the president should apply to himself the benchmark he once set for others.
Public Reaction So Far
The call has generated sharp reactions online, with some Nigerians praising Falz for speaking truth to power and echoing his demand for Tinubu’s resignation.
Others have criticized him, questioning his motives or dismissing him as an opposition figure or “fake activist,” showing how polarized public opinion is around the current government.
