Kebbi School Kidnapping: How My Husband Was Killed – Widow
In a harrowing account of the attack on Government Comprehensive Girls Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, Amina Hassan, the widow of the school’s head of security, has detailed the moments leading to her husband’s murder.
Speaking at the scene, Mrs. Hassan recounted how armed bandits forced their way into their home in the early hours of Monday, around 4 am.
“We were in bed when we heard the entrance door being forced open,” she said. “I woke my husband, but he thought it was goats. We had no idea it was human beings at our door until they burst into our room.”
Once inside, the assailants demanded that her husband, Yakubu Makuku, lead them to the girls’ hostel. He refused their order.
“They shot him for his defiance,” she said. “I rushed to hold him, but they pushed me aside and moved on to the hostel. I then heard the girls screaming and crying as they were taken. It’s still a nightmare to me.”
Tragically, she confirmed that the school’s gateman, Ali Shehu, was also shot and killed by the bandits during the violent incident.
