A viral video showed Naval Officer Lt. Ahmed Yerima being stopped by police in Abuja on November 16, 2025, for driving a vehicle with a concealed number plate.

The police officers stopped an ash-colored Toyota Camry with fully tinted windows and a covered license plate near NNPC Junction on the Kubwa Expressway.

Lt. Yerima identified himself as an officer and attempted to present his identification card, but the police claimed they could not clearly see the ID.

The incident sparked widespread discussion online, with mixed reactions on social media.

The FCT Police Command denied allegations of any assault or unfair treatment, stating the stop-and-search was professional and according to standard operational procedures.

Some social media users noted that covering the license plate was for security reasons, especially following a prior related incident involving Yerima.
