Victor Osimhen scored a remarkable hat-trick in the UEFA Champions League match as Galatasaray dominated Ajax 3-0 at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
Osimhen opened the scoring in the 59th minute with a header off a Leroy Sané cross and then converted two penalties in the 66th and 78th minutes due to handballs by Ajax defenders Youri Baas and Gerald Alders.
This victory marked Galatasaray’s first ever away win at Ajax in the Champions League and propelled the Turkish club from 16th to 9th in the group standings with nine points from four matches.
three goals took his total to six in this Champions League season, making him the leading scorer ahead of Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé, who each have five.
He also set a new record as the highest-scoring Nigerian in UEFA club competitions with 25 goals, surpassing Obafemi Martins.
This hat-trick was Osimhen’s first-ever in the Champions League and underscored his value to Galatasaray, who signed him from Napoli for a Turkish-record fee. Ajax, four-time European champions, remain at the bottom of the group table without any points after four games.
This performance by Osimhen was lauded as a masterclass and a defining moment in Galatasaray’s European campaign this season.
